Dialogue Beyond Borders strives to promote tolerance, defend human rights, and advance greater understanding among diverse communities by providing opportunities for learning, expression, and discussion aimed at facilitating group dialogue.
Dialogue Beyond Borders seeks to closely work with immigrant and heritage communities, and the general public, to facilitate greater understanding, dialogue and tolerance among diverse youth in local neighborhoods and communities by:
- holding workshops, public forums, lectures, seminars, film screenings, reading circles, and group discussions on the importance of respect for human and civil rights, equality, tolerance, diversity, relevant current events, cross-cultural issues, social justice, and positive civic engagement, as well as other related topics;
- conducting community service projects and events with the goal of fostering community involvement, cooperation, and social responsibility among local youth;
- offering mentoring programs to assist community youth and young people with college preparation and/or job placement, provide positive role models for at risk youth, teach positive approaches to dealing with stress and peer pressure, and promote greater self-esteem and leadership skills; and,
- holding language workshops and seminars to increase dialogue between non-native and native English language speakers, and improve writing and communication skills.
